Ms. Sabriye Tenberken from Germany, based in Trivandrum, spoke at the GEP Public Lecture Series on Nov. 20 about her life as a blind woman and her work to train social change makers at the International Institute for Social Entrepreneurs. The International Institute for Social Entrepreneurs (IISE) in Trivandrum, Kerala (S. India) is a leadership training centre for visionaries and social change makers. It can also be seen as a "dream factory" which incubates credible and effective leaders who are committed to creating positive social change. Ms. Tenberken has established several schools and the social service organisation “Braille Without Borders.” Gradually visually impaired and completely blind by the age of 13, Ms. Tenberken is most well known for her work in education and for establishing the Tibetan Braille system. Sh has received numerous international awards for her work. The lecture was followed by a discourse by H.H. Jagad Guru Swami Isa (GEP Founder) about the significance of true vision amongst the future leaders for a sustainable planet. |
