The Universe is Energy Alone

In an article entitled "Energy Age,"¹ Swami Isa, founder of the Isa Viswa Prajnana Trust writes, “For the majority of us, energy means only electricity. But the truth is that anything and everything in the world is made up of energy. The infinite vibration of energy plays around and creates innumerable designs and give birth to the multitude of living and nonliving entities, and thus the universe is revealed.”

“The universe and its constituents are only a conglomeration of energy and the universe is ultimately energy alone." Energy is, in fact, the basic essence of the universe; it is the motivating force behind every aspect of our cosmos.

“In short, the heartbeat to the rotation of the earth on its axis, is only the pulsation of energy.”

Destructive Energy Is On the Rise

While energy is all-pervading and excludes nothing in the universe, its quality differs from form to form. Any particular energy is basically either positive or negative, and tends toward either construction or destruction.

It is a sad fact that the world today is dominated by destruction. “Looking around us today, Nature seems to have lost its balance. Disasters, calamities, one or other can be seen every day all over the world. Nature in its devastating ferocity takes only a few seconds to annihilate everything that the human race and its culture have achieved thus far.”

The reason is simple: the constructive energies and destructive energies in the universe are out of balance.

Energy Can Change and Be Changed

Because the basic nature of energy is constant vibration (or change), it also has the power to be changed and to change. A powerful positive energy can alter the quality and expression of a negative one, and vice versa.

Human thought and action are extremely powerful energies that affect our environment. “Are natural calamities phenomena unrelated to human beings? Are they not related to human thoughts and passions? Is any natural, social, national or international disaster possible on the earth independent of human action?”

In fact, the fundamentality of energy in the universe means that all life is interdependent. Neither humans, plants, the earth, nor animals are separate entities; we are caught in a mutually dependent web of life.

Just as the largest contributor to the current negative-dominated state came from humans, the solution to also lies in our hands: to increase positive energy. “We should realize that everything in the universe, including the self, is nothing but energy."

Assessing Energy In Our Own Lives

The first step of total energy awareness is understanding the energy in our own lives. “Irrespective of educational status, each individual has to attain the capability to assess and understand whether the energy flow caused by his or her own actions in the day-to-day life are positive or negative."

“If an illiterate mother finds a portion of a fruit is rotten, she removes the spoiled part and gives only the good portion to her child. Why? Because she knows for sure that if rotten fruit is consumed it will make the child sick. This mother may be illiterate and incapable of understanding scientific terminology, but she is not ignorant.

“The negative energy flow of the rotten part of the fruit will disrupt the positive energy flow of a healthy body. The state of disrupted energy flow is called sickness. The energy in the good part of the fruit is positive as it helps to keep up the positive energy flow in a healthy body. The positive and negative energies in a single fruit can take us to the opposite extremes. The negative energy causes sickness and sorrow. The positive energy takes us to health and happiness.”

A Call for Energy Awareness

With a common understanding of energy and its expression, humankind has the opportunity to regain natural equilibrium and to advance on a more constructive path.

This energy awareness is the first aim of the Global Energy Parliament. We will facilitate a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary communication about energy, considering the scientific, theoretical, cultural and practical implications thereof. Ultimately, the GEP will change the vision of the world.
