Scientists Debate in Germany

Dr. Hosang at Energy SymposiumDr. habil. Maik Hosang, Director of Institute for Social Ecology, led debates about the need for a broader use of the term 'energy,' during the Global Energy Parliament's “Energy Symposium” at the Dresden Technical University held on 21 Sept in Germany.

Scientists, medical doctors, philosophers and researchers from Germany and France agreed that the term ‘energy’ is relevant to all sectors of society and holds potential for integrating the different branches of knowledge.

Dr. Hosang inaugurated the symposium comparing the views between two great thinkers from Germany and India: the former Prime Minister of Saxony, Prof. Dr. Kurt Biedenkopf and the late Sri Aurobindo. Both argued for a mandatory provision that only a rediscovery of the connections in all branches of science can lead to a viable and righteous human society. Through the greatness of his mental and psychological nature, they hold, any human can uplift himself.

Dr. Uwe Reuter, MD (Medical Director of the Clinic Im LEBEN, Greiz), Andreas Mascha (Integral Management Consulting, Munich), Andreas Beutel (Pythagoras Institute Dresden), and Prof. Balck (Clausthal Technical University) also made presentations, after which followed a general discussion.

A key part of discussion was the important role that energy can play in understanding how humans and technology affect the world. "When introducing new technologies, it is very important to estimate their consequences," Prof. Balck urged. "We have to learn how they have an effect on the human body and other biological systems."

Members of the Paris Global Energy Parliament Centre and the Dresden Technical University's Students Working Group on Energy, which hosted the event, presented the work of the Global Energy Parliament (GEP), an international assembly which seeks to define all the sciences on a common, integrated basis. It aims to harmonize the conditions in all sectors of society, by calling for a greater awareness of 'energy.'

The Symposium was a pre-cursor to the 2nd international meet of the Global Energy Parliament, to be held on 10th December 2011 in Dresden.
