10 November 2024

The Global Energy Parliament (GEP) presented the 2024 GEP Award to acclaimed music director and composer, Sharreth.

The honour was conferred by the Hon. Governor of West Bengal Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose on November 9th, 2024 held in connection with the 70th Jayanthi of GEP Founder His Holiness Jagadguru Swami Isa and a national education conference. The award carried a one lakh cash prize sponsored by the Governor.

The audio of a new song titled “Prakritiyaam Amme” composed by Sharreth based on a poem by Swami Isa was also released by the Governor. It features acclaimed singers K.S. Chithra and Madhu Balakrishnan.

Sharreth expressed his delight to receive the award, saying that working on this song was a cherished experience for him, as it carries great meaning of the broken bond between the mother nature and mankind.

His Holiness Jagadguru Swami Isa said, “We must preserve our relationship with Mother Nature. Our balance, the world’s balance, and the happiness of future generations depends on realizing that we are not separate from her.”

Sharreth was honoured for his profound contributions to human culture through music. The GEP celebrates his exceptional talent in harnessing the science of sound waves, frequencies, and vibrations—principles integral to energy science. Through his artistry, Sharreth masterfully transforms sound energy into rich emotional and intellectual experiences that resonate deeply with audiences.

Born Sujith Vasudevan I, Sharreth is a protégé of the legendary Carnatic music virtuoso M. Balamuralikrishna. He made his film composition debut in 1990 with the Malayalam film Kshanakkathu and previously lent his voice as a playback singer. Since 2011, Sharreth has been a prominent judge on various talent shows, including his current role as a permanent judge on Star Singer, hosted by Asianet. Known for his warmth, precision, and sincerity, he embodies the versatility that defines his musical career.

The GEP Award honours individuals or institutions that foster positive energy on Earth through innovative applications and knowledge of energy science. Previous recipients include Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, in 2023; His Excellency Sir James Mancham, KBE, the Founding President of the Republic of Seychelles, in 2016; and Amb. Sergey Batsanov, Director-General of the Nobel Prize-winning Pugwash Conferences for Science and World Affairs, in 2015.
